About This Work

Hand-carved approximately ten years ago by Tessō Mori, this Birth Buddha reflects one of Japan's most beloved Buddhist traditions. According to the artist's family, Tessō Mori created several Birth Buddha sculptures. It is the only known Birth Buddha sculpture by Tessō Mori. Natural resin marks and age-related discoloration are present.
