Important Information Before Purchasing

Thank you for your interest in the artworks of MORI CHOKOKUSHO.

Each artwork is individually hand-carved in Japan using traditional carving techniques and natural materials, including wood and traditional Japanese finishes. Unlike manufactured products, handcrafted wooden artworks possess unique characteristics and naturally evolve over time.

Please carefully review the following information before purchasing.

Customs Duties, Taxes, and Import Fees

Customs duties, import taxes, VAT, customs clearance fees, and other governmental charges are not included in the artwork price or shipping costs.

Such charges are the sole responsibility of the purchaser and are determined by the laws and regulations of the destination country or region.

The Nature of Wood as a Living Material

Our artworks are created from natural wood. Wood continues to respond to changes in temperature and humidity even after becoming a finished artwork.

Natural characteristics may include:

• Variations in grain and color
• Knots and markings
• Expansion or contraction
• Cracks, separations, discoloration, or staining
• Changes in tone and luster
• Patina and character developed through aging

Colors, tones, textures, dimensions, and appearance may also vary due to natural material characteristics, photography, lighting conditions, and individual display settings.

These characteristics are inherent to natural materials and handcrafted artworks, do not constitute defects, and are not grounds for return, refund, exchange, cancellation, or compensation.

Traditional Japanese Lacquer (Urushi)

Some artworks incorporate traditional Japanese lacquer finishes, including Fuki-urushi (wiped lacquer).

All lacquer finishes are fully cured before shipment and are considered safe for normal handling. Individuals with extreme lacquer sensitivities should exercise appropriate caution.

MORI CHOKOKUSHO shall not be responsible for allergic reactions or health-related issues arising from individual sensitivities.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

No Warranty

Except as expressly stated herein, all artworks are sold “as is” and “as available.”

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, MORI CHOKOKUSHO disclaims all express and implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, durability, non-infringement, and suitability for any installation or display environment.

Purchasers acknowledge that handcrafted artworks made from natural materials inherently contain variations that cannot be standardized or guaranteed.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Installation and Safety

Wall-mounted and heavy artworks require proper installation.

The purchaser is responsible for selecting appropriate mounting hardware, ensuring safe installation, and conducting ongoing inspection and maintenance.

Mounting components may deteriorate over time due to aging, environmental conditions, vibration, transportation, and other factors. Regular inspection and replacement are strongly recommended.

Heavy artworks should not be installed:

• Above beds
• Above sofas or seating areas
• Above cribs
• Above locations where people regularly remain underneath

For earthquake-prone regions, appropriate anti-fall and anti-tip measures are strongly recommended.

Professional installation is recommended for heavy, large-scale, or wall-mounted artworks.

Some artworks may contain wood fibers, textured surfaces, carved projections, edges, or pointed decorative elements. Mishandling may result in scratches, cuts, splinters, or other minor injuries.

Artworks sold by MORI CHOKOKUSHO are decorative works of art intended for adult collectors and display purposes only. They are not toys, children's products, furniture, climbing objects, or equipment designed for physical interaction.

Keep out of reach of children.

Care and Environmental Conditions

Avoid displaying or storing artworks in locations exposed to:

• Direct sunlight
• Heating or cooling vents
• Fireplaces or heat sources
• Strong airflow
• Extremely dry environments
• Excessively humid environments

Such conditions may contribute to cracking, warping, discoloration, loosening of joints, or other natural changes in the wood.

Please follow the care guidelines referenced above.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Returns and Exchanges

Because many artworks are one-of-a-kind or produced in extremely limited quantities, all sales are generally final.

Returns, refunds, shipping damage, lost shipments, customs procedures, delivery issues, and related support services may be subject to the policies of Cross Cart and/or the applicable shipping carrier.

Certificate of Authenticity

Each artwork is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity issued by MORI CHOKOKUSHO.

The certificate records authenticity and provenance and includes information such as artist, materials, dimensions, certificate number, and date of issue.

The certificate does not, by itself, constitute legal proof of ownership.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, MORI CHOKOKUSHO shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, punitive, exemplary, economic, or similar damages arising from the purchase, ownership, installation, display, storage, transportation, maintenance, resale, or use of any artwork.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Collector Responsibilities

After delivery, the purchaser assumes responsibility for the care, display, storage, transportation, maintenance, and preservation of the artwork.

MORI CHOKOKUSHO shall not be responsible for damages, losses, or claims arising from circumstances beyond its reasonable control after delivery.
