Q. Are all sculptures hand-carved?

Yes. Every sculpture is carved by hand in our workshop in Kaminyū, Maibara, Shiga Prefecture, Japan. No CNC machines or mass-production machinery are used during the carving process.

Q. Are any two pieces exactly the same?

No. Because each work is hand-carved from natural wood, variations in grain, color, and carving details are inevitable. Every piece is unique.

Q. What types of wood do you use?

The wood species varies depending on the artwork. When available, the wood type is specified in the product description.

Q. Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We welcome orders from collectors around the world. Available shipping destinations and methods may vary depending on the size of the artwork and the destination country.

Q. Will I need to pay customs duties or import taxes?

Import duties, VAT, GST, customs fees, and other charges imposed by the destination country are the responsibility of the buyer.

Q. How long does shipping take?

Delivery times vary depending on the destination country, customs clearance procedures, and the shipping carrier.

Q. Can I return an artwork?

Due to the handmade nature of our artworks, returns and exchanges are generally not accepted except in cases of damage during transit or delivery of an incorrect item.

Q. What should I do if my sculpture arrives damaged?

Please contact us as soon as possible after delivery. Providing photographs of both the packaging and the damaged item will help us respond more quickly.

Q. How should I care for my wooden sculpture?

Avoid direct sunlight, excessive humidity, extreme dryness, and sudden changes in temperature. For routine care, gently remove dust using a soft cloth or brush.

Q. Why is a Kiribako (Paulownia Wood Box) offered separately?

A Kiribako is more than simple packaging. In Japan, paulownia wood boxes have traditionally been used to protect valuable artworks from humidity and environmental changes and to preserve them for future generations.

Q. Is a Kiribako necessary?

Not necessarily. However, we highly recommend it for collectors who wish to preserve their sculpture in excellent condition over the long term.

Q. Do you accept custom commissions?

Depending on the nature of the project, custom commissions may be possible. Please feel free to contact us with your request.

Q. Can the sculptures be displayed outdoors?

Unless otherwise stated, our sculptures are intended for indoor display.

Q. Who creates the sculptures?

Our works are created by the artisans of Mori Carving Studio. Located in Kaminyū, Maibara, Shiga Prefecture, Japan, the studio preserves and continues a family tradition of woodcarving that spans more than a century.

Q. Will the value of the artwork increase in the future?

Our sculptures are created as works of art and craftsmanship. We cannot guarantee future appreciation in value or investment returns.
